Part-time jobs for students offer a valuable opportunity to balance their studies with practical experience and financial independence. Working part-time as a student often involves working fewer hours than full-time positions, so you can better manage your schedules effectively. At the same time, you will gain professional skills, earn extra income, or at least cover one part of your educational expenses. It is the perfect plan to improve your resume and develop essential life skills while focusing on your studies. Today, I will share my experience as a teaching assistant in my department at Kyung Hee University.

Who can apply?

You can apply to this part-time job if you are enrolled in the master's or doctoral course at the main school (graduate school, special graduate school) or are expected to enter.

Where will you work?

As a Teacher Assistant, you will be working at the General Administration Office, Department of Hotel and Tourism (College of Hotel and Tourism)

How are the working hours?

You can choose between two options. You can decide to work 7 hours per week, then it will cover 40% of your tuition fees, or you can choose to work 14 hours per week, and then it will cover 80% of your tuition fees. In our department, there is only one assistant, so I recommend working 14 hours because you may need time to do all the work. You can decide on your schedule between Monday and Friday. For some special occasions like the qualification exam, for example, you will have to go to university on a Saturday morning, but it happens once in the semester.

How do they select the new TA?

The office will go through document screening, and there may be an interview. In my case, I just had the document screening.

What are the responsibilities?

As a Teacher Assistant, you will be responsible for time management and take complete control over designated calendars, including coordinating, scheduling, tracking, and reminding of internal meetings, events, and functions of the department. You will draft and format responses to memos, emails, and documents, compile and edit briefing materials, and translate, and summarize information.
