If you plan on traveling outside of whichever city you are in, most likely, you will take the KTX.

Choosing which seat you'll sit in through your trip is more important than you think, with some seats closer to power outlets for you to charge your phone and offering other perks!

There's different types of KTX trains — the general KTX train, KTX-Eum and KTX-Sancheon — and I'll try to explain some tips I learned along the way for each of the trains!

All of the explanations are based on the trains' economy seats!

1) Charging your phone

1. For general KTX trains

For KTX trains, a power outlet and two USB ports can be found on the panel behind the family seats that face each other, and at every other seat starting from there.

So basically, they can be found next to seats A and D in rows 1, 3, 5,7, 10, 12 and 14.

15A and 15D also gets another charging port behind the seat as well!

I personally prefer 15A and 15D because there's not only a power outlet, but also extra space behind the seats.

This is also the case of 15B and 15C, and you can recline your seat as much as you want and keep your luggage in the empty space!

There's actually a bit more empty space even if you fit your luggage in there!

Car 5 of KTX trains is an exception to the rules above.

The car does not have the family seat in the middle, and because of the different design, charging ports can be found next to seats A and D of rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 14.

2. For KTX-Eum

KTX-Eum trains are a bit different and there's less to worry when booking your seat because there is one power socket in the middle of the two side-by-side seats.

There's also a wireless charger where you can slide in two phones, also with two USB charging ports on each side.

3. For KTX-Sancheon

KTX-Sancheon is basically same as the KTX-Eum, but without the wireless chargers.

There's one power outlet in the middle of the two seats as well.

2) Economy seats that feel like first class

KTX trains have economy seats and expensive first class seats. However, there is a special economy seat that offer some perks of a first class seat.
