There are several common excuses that exercise-averse people use to avoid working out: high fees, busy schedules and inconvenient locations.

Well, you can no longer use high fees as an excuse, because today’s review will show you how to stay fit affordably while potentially making new friends — at your local district’s sports center!

Most people know that each district in Seoul has its own district office, which offers a range of services like documentation and public safety.

However, many are unaware of the sports centers that exist within these districts.

While not every district has a sports center, larger districts like Mapo, Jungnang, Jung, and Jongno boast their own facilities, such as the Gumin Sports Center.

Today, let’s explore one of these centers: the Mapo Gumin Sports Center in Seoul.

Located in Mangwon-dong near the Han River, the sports center is open every day of the year.

Serving as a fitness bub for Mapo District residents, the center surely features a gym on its second floor.

Priced at 50,000 won for adults and 35,000 won for those aged 13 to 19, the gym runs all week, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

If you wish to exercise only once or twice a week, it’s more economical to pay a daily fee. The cost is 3,5000 won for adults on weekdays and 4,000 won on weekends.

You can exercise for up to 2 hours per visit.

While the gym fees are quite reasonable enough to convince to one to work out at the district sports center, the real highlight of district sports centers is the wide range of sports activities available at low prices.

Mapo Gumin Sports Center offers body fitness activities like yoga to competitive group sports such as badminton and soccer.
