A Theater of Blood and Sounds—The Substance
LIFE

2 minute read

“How much longer is this going to take?” I thought to myself, with my eyes half-covered and my intrigue bare. Despite the disturbing graphics and grotesque screams, my intrigue had me captured, with my eyes glued to the screen and my body unable to look away.

Halfway through winter vacation, I was lucky enough to win Megabox tickets from K-Campus. This was enough for me to watch a movie in their 2D theater with a fellow Kamper and friend, Milenka. However, as lucky as we were to score free movie tickets, we were also unlucky enough to have picked a movie so unexpectedly visceral.

Movie Impression

"Remember, you are one." The movie unflinchingly portrays the entertainment industry's obsession with younger, newer artists to publicize, insinuating ageism and unrealistic standards onto our society, especially towards women. Through its excruciating visuals, the film was a brutal reminder that no matter how much we change ourselves to be accepted and "loved", we only live one life; a life not worth living depending on others' expectations.
