- LIFEHACK: Tap your phone twice and translate everything from Korean to English
Hello there, Kampers! 📞
So around a week ago, a friend from the office showed me a revolutionary function for iPhone users: an “almost” automated translator embedded in the phone. By simply double-tapping on the back of the phone, you can translate all Korean sentences and words on your screen into English!
The best part is that the images are also included in the translation action, which is usually left out at Google's translating system.
I thought this sort of thing was perfect for K-campus content as I assume there would be a lot of users struggling with Korean and I finally gathered some time to post a review on how to get it done!
The entire setup only takes around five minutes – well, 10 minutes at most, if you’re not too familiar with the shortcut system in your phone. As I pointed out, it’s an option for iPhone users, so if you’re a non-Apple phone user, please hang on until we bring another segment!
I included a lot of screenshots and descriptions to make it as easy as possible for you to understand. However, if you’re stuck and need help over a particular stage, go ahead and leave them in the comments section so I can address the issue!
Here’s a step-by-step run-through of what to do including my screenshots!
1. First, find the “Shortcuts" app and make a new shortcut like this. You may name it however you want. I named it “ENG to KOR translation.”
2. Now tap “Add Action” and search “Take Screenshot.” Tap on it and make it the first action of your shortcut.
3. Now search again in the same search bar for “Extract text from image,” which will then be set up like this.
4. Again, pull up the search bar from the bottom of the screen. Now search for “Translate text.”
Here, you can set up the language to translate from and the language to translate into. Typically, for foreigners in Korea, it’d be translating “Korean(한ęµě–´)” to “English.”
