About Jeonbuk National University
Jeonbuk National University was founded in 1947 as the first national university in the Honam region, also known as the Jeolla and Gwangju area. Unlike the modern architecture found on many university campuses, many buildings on campus including the university entrance, humanities & social science building, law school building and International Convention Center are hanok, or traditional Korean buildings. The university has six campuses in North Jeolla, with the Jeonju Campus considered the main campus where most classes are held. Classes for the College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Environmental & Bioresource Sciences and College of Agriculture & Life Sciences are held at the Iksan Campus. The Department of Hanok Architecture can be found at the Gochang Campus and the Advance Science Campus is home to the Department of Bio-Convergence Science. The Saemangeum Frontier Campus is located in Gunsan and is home to various research centers. No classes are held at the Wanju Campus, but it is home to entrepreneurship centers related to the food business.
