About Korea National Sport University
Located in Songpa District, southern Seoul, Korea National Sports University (KNSU) is a national university established in 1976 that focused on educating student athletes in preparation for international competitions such as the Olympics. KNSU is the only national university that is known for its prestigious sports education and training and is the alma mater of many of Korea's top athletes. Students who are admitted as student athletes develop their careers as professional athletes, whereas other students develop theirs in the sports industry to be administrators or trainers. The undergraduate student population is around 3,000. Notable alumni include PGA golfer Im Sung-jae and a number of Olympic gold medalists such as short-track speed skater Shim Suk-hee, fencer Park Sang-young, skeleton racer Yun Sung-bin and gymnast Yang Hak-seon.
