Studying abroad means dealing with visa rules, which can be tricky. Recently in South Korea, more and more students have switched from a D-4 visa (for Korean language programs) to a D-2 visa (for degree programs). I will share my experience of changing visa types in South Korea, focusing on the requirements and procedures involved in this transition, hoping that will help you since it is quite a difficult process!

I came to Korea in February 2022 with the D-4 visa commonly known as the language training visa and studied Korean for 6 months after getting accepted to Kyung Hee University as a graduate student implying to switch to the D-2 visa, or student visa.

First of all, let’s have a look at all the requirements you will need to change from the D2 when you are already in Korea. I didn't needed some documents, but since it depends on the person in front of you and each personal case, the more you have documents prepared, the better. Please note that I am French so depending on your country there may be some additional documents 😊
