From D-4 visa to D-2 visa: A Long Journey

Hello there! Are you ready to read about my long journeying with visas?

I am from Brazil, and I came to Korea during the last year of strong COVID restrictions, 2021, so my visa process was even more complicated. Before starting the entire process, I did a lot of research. I know I am very good at investigating and organizing. Also, I didn’t have a lot of money at that time to invest in an agency to help me. Therefore, I decided to do everything by myself.

First, my plan was to apply to Seoul National University to study Korean language for a year. Before coming here, I didn’t listen to Korean music and barely watched dramas, so all I knew about the language were simple polite words and how to read Hangul. Learning the language was essential, so right after completing all the application process at SNU, I applied for a D-4 visa.

Due to the situation, for the visa I had to prove the reservation of an approved quarantine place, vaccination status, and a travel health insurance that covered COVID cases. Additionally, I needed the usual documents such as a letter from the University proving my successful application and payment, proof of the required amount of money in my bank account, passport, and reserved airplane tickets.

Everything worked as I planed and I got the visa, said goodbye and came to Korea to start a new journey.

The day I went to get my visa at the Korea Embassy in Brazil.
