The Global Talent Fair is an event job seekers shouldn't miss, with companies that are currently hiring international students giving hints on how applicants should prepare.

During this year's job fair, hiring managers from Samyang Roundsquare, Amorepacific and Hansae hosted sessions to explain about their current openings for international students.

Valuable tips such as what questions will be asked in the interview and specifically what roles the employees will be assigned to were discussed.

But for people who missed the job fair or were busy visiting other company booths, here are some key takeaways from the event.

Samyang Roundsquare is accepting applications for its Global Talent Recruitment, which is only open to foreign nationals in Korea.

Various positions such as sales, marketing, R&D and accounting are open, with candidates having to apply until Sept. 30.

During the job fair, the company went in depth about how the interviews will work.

On the job posting, it says that applicants will be going through two interviews during the recruitment process. The company said the first one will be an interview with people you will work with and the second one will be one with executives.

Interviews and all other recruitment processes will be conducted in Korean, but there can be additional English interviews if the team that applicants will work for looks for English skills.

Regarding vacancies, the company said there isn’t a set number of employees they are aiming to hire. If there are a lot of qualified candidates, they plan to hire many. But they also may not hire anyone at all if applicants don’t meet their expectations.

The company will be offering visa and work permit support for selected candidates to work as interns. Then, for the interns that got a regular employee offer after the end of the internship, the company will also help them get a work visa.

Samyang Roundsquare also said it plans to open the Global Talent Recruitment every year from now on, so that is something future job seekers can keep an eye on.

Hansae is currently recruiting foreigners that will work in overseas sales, based in its headquarters in Yeouido. Applications are accepted until Sept. 8.

During the job fair's recruitment information session, the company went into detail about its overall hiring process.

Being proficient in English is one of preferred qualifications, although the company said not having native-level fluency is okay, and that being able to write business emails in English is fine.

The company also sees the ability to speak Vietnamese, Burmese, Bahasa Melayu, Spanish and Japanese a strong suit.

But among the languages, the hiring manager especially stressed Hansae is looking for Spanish speakers. That's because Hansae recently opened a factory in El Salvador, and needs employees that can facilitate communication between Korean headquarters and the factory.

Having Korean proficiency equivalent to TOPIK level 4 or above is a minimum requirement to apply, as the employees will be working with Koreans. The company said they have quite a few international employees, although they are all good in Korean.

Hansae is a company that will have three interviews. The company said the team leader that the interns will work for will be present at the first interview, with vice president-level employees present in the second interview. The company's CEO will be part of the last interview.

Selected candidates will technically be working as an intern for six months, with the job listing saying only outstanding candidates will be offered a regular employee position. However, the company said it has given full-time offers to 97 percent of its interns in the past, and assured most of the interns for this intake will also be given job offers at the end.
