- From Instagram Post to Dream Job: My Part-Time Work Experience in Korea
Have you ever wondered how a simple scroll through Instagram could lead you to your dream job? That's exactly what happened to me! During last spring break, I came upon a recruitment post on Instagram while scrolling up my page, which changed my life. My part-time position as a Video Producer at ApplyKorea has been an incredible journey filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. In this post, I'll share the steps I took from finding that post to thriving in my new role, along with tips and insights for anyone looking to start on a similar path.
How I Found the Job
I found the job through an Instagram recruitment post. Surprisingly, many studios in Korea prefer to post recruitment ads on Instagram instead of using traditional job websites. I actually found this approach to job hunting offers an engaging way to discover opportunities, since I followed a lot of studio accounts on Instagram. Post like this helps potential candidates to connect directly with companies through social media.
Recruitment Process
- Form Application: Basic information, cover letter, and portfolio.
- Interview: A formal interview process. (I was actually interviewed by the 대표님)
- Probation Period: An initial trial period. I was assigned to work in the team of 3 members (PD, Scriptwriter and MC) to produce one production regarding foreigners' talkshow on life in Korea.
- Contract Signing: Officially signing the employment contract.
- Official Employment: I've been working here for 4 months now (as of July 2024).
- Documentation: You need to apply for a part-time job registration on HiKorea. The process requires several documents that need to be signed by your school, so prepare in advance.
My Experience
First Decent Job in Korea: Prior to this, I had only worked at school. This is my first significant job in a Korean company.
