SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ are the three mobile carriers in Korea that offer membership promotions and discounts for the users.

Their monthly plans cost more than altteul phones, or mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), which is why you should utilize their deals as much as you can.

For example, did you know you could get around 10 percent off many cafes and bakeries in Korea? Or what about getting a few thousand won off your movie tickets?

If you were clueless about these deals, or knew about them but didn't know how to operate the app promotions, here's your guide to open your eyes to the hidden deals.

Disclaimer: If you are an altteul phone user, this doesn't count. But be sure to share it with others who are members of either of the three mobile carriers!

Activating the app

First of all, you need to install the membership app to operate these apps.

If you are a member of the SKT membership, you should have the "T Membership (T 멤버십)" app.

LG U+ users should have :"U+ Membership (유플러스 멤버십)."

If you use KT, it's "KT Membership (멤버십)."

If you have downloaded and logged onto your accounts successfully, you will see a page with offers you can use regularly or through temporary events.

Through this app, you can browse the list of affiliates and partnering companies that grant you access to the promotions. Some common examples are Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, the major convenience stores and some franchise cafes.

So how do you activate the discounts?

Visit the partnering branch and before making a payment, open the app and show the barcode to the cashier. Then they will scan the barcode and give you a total price with the discount applied. Once you have used it, you will spot the total amount of the discounts you have used at the '연간 누적 할인' part. Make sure to use them as much as you can!
