Chung-Ang University announced Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Culture Information Service Agency (Kcisa) on Friday to foster talent in immersive media.

A workshop on creating opportunities for more government-industry-academia partnerships in immersive media also took place on Friday.

Immersive media refers to interactive art and simulations using technology such as virtual reality and augmented reality.

The Kcisa will work with Chung-Ang University to explore new business areas related to immersive media and train students specializing in the field.

"Based on this government-academia partnership, we hope various 3-D data owned by the Korea Culture Information Service Agency can be applied to the study of realistic media," Hong Hee-kyung, director of the Korea Culture Information Service Agency, said.
