DGIST has the best student-to-faculty ratio among the schools on this list, with just 6.3 students per faculty member, according to THE. Founded in 2004, it is also the second youngest university on this list. As its name suggests, it focuses on fields related to science and technology, such as robotics, biotech and information technology. The university puts an emphasis on research, with year-long research with peers being a graduation requirement for undergraduate studies. Its rapid rise can be partly attributed to its cutting-edge facilities providing room for academic growth for just under 1,800 students. It offers full-rides to all international undergraduate students.

With its history dating back to 1949, Kyung Hee University in Seoul's Dongdaemun District is known for programs in health sciences and international relations. Its medical school is also well-known, and the international studies division provides all of its courses in English. It also has the highest number of international students on its campus.

Established in 2007, UNIST is the newest university on this list and the second located in the scenic coastal city of Ulsan. As a school specializing in science and technology, its state-of-the-art research facilities are designed to offer its aspiring scientists and engineers an excellent learning environment. The university is Korea's only school on the two global rankings whose classes are all taught in English. There are also many scholarship opportunities, with full tuition waivers given to all first-year international students and those with a GPA of 2.7 or above from the second year.

Hanyang University is best known for its engineering, business and urban planning studies. Its roots trace back to Dong-A Engineering Institute, Korea's first private engineering institution. Since its opening in 1939, it has produced renowned engineers and scientists who achieved great academic feats. It also runs an honors program called the Diamond Program, in which students are given two-year full rides. THE reports that it has partnerships with 820 universities in 88 countries, including the University of Cambridge and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

6. Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU)

SKKU offers a wide array of high-quality undergraduate programs, with a particular emphasis on humanities. It is also one of the few universities in Korea that offers programs in Confucian studies and Eastern philosophy, with its historical ties to the Joseon Dynasty's royal higher education institution, Sungkyunkwan. With 23,402 undergraduate students, according to THE, it is also the second-largest university on this list.

Korea University, also known as the "K" in the acronym "SKY," which stands for Korea's most prestigious universities by size and history, has the highest percentage of international students in its student body among Korean universities on THE rankings. Established in 1905 and situated in the Anam neighborhood of Seoul, the school has impressive business, economics and political science programs.

4. Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech)

Pohgnag, on Korea's east coast, is represented by just one university on this list, but that school is no other than academic powerhouse Postech. Since its opening in 1986, the institution has been known for its scientific and technological advancements. It boasts a 400-acre campus, 73 research centers and 11 undergraduate divisions. The university was established with funding from Posco, the nation's largest steelmaker. Given the school's close ties to the company, it has strong materials science programs and partnerships with the company.

Coming in at the top three on K-campus's rankings, Yonsei is one of Korea's oldest universities, with its history dating back to 1885. It is located in the Sinchon neighborhood of Seoul along with the neighborhood's other universities and is simultaneously the neighborhood's flagship university. It has 153 research centers and institutes, as well as an international college that offers all of its classes in English. Unlike other universities that offer English-only classes for their international studies programs, Yonsei's Underwood International College offers a wide variety of majors in sciences, engineering and humanities.

2. KAIST

Established in Daejeon in 1971, KAIST is perhaps Korea's most prestigious science and technology institute. However, it offers courses in humanities and social science and even has a business school in Seoul. It is known for the financial support it provides for its students, as all of its students get a full ride during their first year. Students in their second year and above can continue receiving the aid as long as they maintain a GPA of at least 2.7.

A comfortable winner and the highest-ranked Korean university on both THE and QS, Seoul National University continues to enjoy its reputation as Korea's most prestigious university. Founded in 1946, it has top-quality programs in engineering, natural sciences and social sciences. It offers 85 undergraduate academic programs, 106 master's programs and 107 doctoral programs. Its alums include former President Kim Young-sam, current President Yoon Suk-yeol and Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong.
