- "Why HUFS Was My First Choice: Scholarships, Support, and Specialization" šļøš«
Back to the time when I first began exploring universities in Korea, I knew I wanted to study Media Communication. I started by researching universities in Seoul with strong programs in this field, searching online for āMedia Communication major in Seoul universities.ā I looked at both world and local rankings, but I knew I wanted a balanced experience, I didnāt aim for the top top top universities, as I was looking for a supportive environment where I could adjust comfortably with my limited Korean language skills.
š < 1st step: Searching your Major available university >
Through my research, I narrowed my choices down to Sogang University, HUFS (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), and INU (Incheon National University). Since I had already completed my first degree in my home country, I applied as a sophomore transfer student.
āCommunication was essentialā to me throughout this process, and this is where HUFS truly stood out. The International Student Support Center (ISSC) at HUFS was incredibly helpful, responding to my inquiries within 12 hours. Their quick and clear communication made my document preparation and application process much easier. This experience really showed me HUFSās commitment to supporting international students, and it became my top choice.
š < 2nd step: Decide your dream university >
I received acceptance letters from Sogang, HUFS, and INU. HUFS provided a 3 million KRW scholarship for the first semester for my TOPIK Level 6, and INU offered 70% off the fees. By then, however, I already felt a strong connection to HUFS, so I chose it with confidence.
Insights: One aspect of HUFSās Media Communication program that attracted me was the option to choose a specialized major (ģøė¶ģ ź³µ) in the third year. The options include Journalism and Media Studies, Advertising, Public Relations and Branding, and Broadcasting, Film, and New Media, which perfectly matched my interests.
