While South Korea is popular for its K-pop icons and K-beauty products, not a lot of people know that it’s a great destination for studying. For one, the peninsula is home to excellent institutions, 7 of which are listed in the World University Rankings’ top 200.
You are afraid that your Korean are not good enough to apply for the scholarship in Korea. Do not worry because I will show you the Global Korea Scholarship- one of the best scholarship for international students.
1. Something you need to know about Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate:
- Time:
This scholarship will open every September for students who want to study Bachelor Degree.
- Program:
Most majors you pursue in university is taught in Korean ( note: you can still choose subject in English depending on university). However, during the application process, you do not need to know Korean, just knowing English. All papers and interviews can be in English. Why? Because once you have won the scholarship, you will automatically be given a "free" 1 year to just eat and learn Korean before entering university.
- Amount of scholarship:
100% tuition fee + monthly allowance : 900,000krw( If you have TOPIk 5 or 6, you will get another 100,000krw/month)+ air tickets, including the way to go and return. (The airline is also quite good, Asia Airlines or Korean Air depending on the year )+ insurance+ 1 year learning Korean - this is what I like the most. It is the reason why I choose Korea over an English-speaking country. While studying for a major, I can learn new foreign language. Look out for keyword like GKS-Global, NIIED – NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION, training institute for international education) – this agency represents the government to enroll students for this program
3. How to win the scholarship:
You can check about the required document in studyinkorea.go.kr. In this review, I will talk about GPA, documents and some tips.
3.1 GPA:
The good news for you is that your GPA only needs to reach 2.64/4.0 to be eligible to apply. However, I emphasize that it is only a condition to apply. If you want to get a scholarship, I think the good GPA is probably above 3.2/4.0.
