What is personal color?

 Personal color refers to the idea that certain colors are more flattering and harmonious with an individual’s natural features, such as their skin tone, eye color and hair color.

The concept is often used in fashion, beauty, and styling to help people choose clothing, makeup, and accessories that complement their unique physical characteristics, enhancing their overall appearance.

In personal color analysis, people are categorized into warm or cool undertones, seasons — Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter — and the levels of contrast (light or dark).

While there are color experts who conduct detailed tests to determine a person’s personal color, it’s also possible to self-assess your personal color.

Step 1: Identifying Warm or Cool Tone

The first step is to determine whether you have a warm or cool undertone.

A warm tone usually refers to individuals with yellow-based skin tone, often giving off a sun-kissed or tanned appearance.  Cool tones, on the other hand, have more red or blue undertones to their skin.

There are several ways to identify your tone.

Eye color: If your eyes are a bright brown, you're likely to have a warm tone. If they are dark brown or black, you probably have a cool tone.

Hair color: If brown hair suits you better, you're likely to have a warm tone. If black hair complements you more, you probably have a cool tone.

Jewelry preference: If gold jewelry looks better on you, you likely have a warm tone. If silver jewelry is more flattering, you’re probably a cool tone.
