Are you considering studying in South Korea but, like me, have a limited budget and feel unsure about which university or major to choose? Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered. I’m Greta, and in this article, I’ll share insights about Pusan National University, focusing particularly on the Department of Global Studies, where I am currently a student.

Choosing the Right Path:

After graduation, like many of you, I was uncertain about which university path I wanted to take. Although Italian universities are very prestigious, I could not find any course that suited my needs. Frankly speaking, in the beginning, I had considered enrolling in a linguistic mediation major, as there were not only courses related to the subjects I had already studied in high school but also principles of economics and management. On the other hand, after studying at Kyungpook National University for my Korean Language Program, I started looking for a school that would allow me to practice my Korean daily since I did not want to lose the proficiency acquired during the year abroad. Nevertheless, I was aware that a B. A in English would benefit me more from a professional point of view.

With a limited budget and the inability to apply for a GKS scholarship, I knew I needed to find a university with reasonable tuition fees that also offered programs in English, as I wasn’t fluent in Korean. After some time spent browsing the internet, I discovered Pusan National University and its bachelor’s degree course in Global Studies.

Pusan National University: DGS

With a wide range of courses, DGS, offered by PNU proposes stimulating and innovative curricula with a particular focus on the competencies and skills required today in the world of work. Through accurate and analytical teaching conducted entirely in English, the Global Studies curriculum is broad. The curricula mainly include subjects such as economics, international relations, and management but also art, literature, and religion. This is because the Global Studies department does not only have the ambition of training the leaders of tomorrow but also of academically growing empaths, individuals capable of identifying, hearing, and solving the problems of our society.

2. Studying at PNU allows its students to study avant-garde courses with native teachers and promote an understanding of diverse cultures and thinking.

3. An immersive experience speaking English daily, leading to significant language improvement.

4. A wide range of course choices is available, allowing students to pursue options such as a double major or a minor. For example, I chose a minor in English literature to deepen my understanding and broaden my academic experience.
