- How I got into Dongguk University (and how you can too!)
So.... did you decided to choose Dongguk as your dream Univ?👀 or... even if you put it on your consideration list, i'll take you through a glimpse of what to prepare for Dongguk admissions (spoiler: it was not as complicated as i thought). Many people thought that it was a rollercoaster of stress, or maybe excitements included. At some point, younger me also have "What did I just get myself into?" moments. But guess what? I made it, and you can too! Let’s go!
Note : this is the general process I have been through to apply for undergraduate degree.
As an international applicant, i suggest you to go to Dongguk's english website to see the full process. But in general, this is the application timeline.
1. Admission Timeline
This timeline is an example according to 2025 Spring Semester Undergraduate admission, the 2nd round application. Mind you, mostly university have 2 to 3 admission round each semester.

2. Required Documents
Needed documents could be different by departments, nationality, background, or even the status you are in. Might be your freshmen, or transfer students. But generally, this is the key documents!
- Application Form
- Bank Balance Certificate
- ID card of applicants and parents
- Previous school transcripts
- Language certificates (Certificate of TOPIK TOPIK or IBT TOPIK level 3 or above)
*Note that if the document is in a language other than English, a notarized translation into either Korean or English is required. Also, certificate of graduation and transcript must be confirmed by the consulate(korea embassy in each country) or Apostille certified.
3. Application, Tuition Fee, and Scholarship!
Like every univesities out there, tuition fee are based on which department are you in. By 2025, the tuition fee for Humanities.Sociology Dept is KRW4,261,000, Natural Science is KRW4,910,000, and Engineering.Arts department is KRW5,559,000. Meanwhile for the first semester only, you need to pay for the application fee for KRW120,000.
But no need to worry! Even the freshman can get scholarships too! If by the application day you already obtained a TOPIK lv 3 or 4 certificate, you are eligible to get up to 50% of the tuition fee reduction.
There are a plenty of scholarships outside the school, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get one from our school! By maintaining your GPA, you will get academic scholarships that reduce your tuition every semester.
