- Doing Some Gardening to Relieve Finals Week Stress💆🏼♀️🪴
I was the designated Christmas tree assembler (alongside my mom) back home. But after coming to Korea, I never felt the Christmas spirit like I did in Paraguay. This year I figured that maybe that's because I don't have a Christmas tree nor any decorations at home! Took me long to figure that one out...
So I went to Daiso and got myself a tiny tree, but something was missing. That's when I see a post by Seoul Culture Lounge for a Christmas gardening experience. Sign. Me. Up!🙂↕️
Seoul Culture Lounge: One Day Class
If you are coming to Korea for a trip or if you are resident here and want a hands-on experience of different aspects of Korean culture, I recommend looking around Seoul Culture Lounge's website. They offer one day classes on Hangeul calligraphy, K-beauty, K-drama/movie-based Korean lessons, Korean lacquerware (나전칠기, najeonchilgi), Korean folk painting (민화, minhwa) eco bags, among other topics. They are all free events, but you have to hurry to sign up since spots are limited and many people are usually interested. You can check their schedules and sign up at the link above!
Usually, after you finish a lesson they give you a certificate that can be used at the store in the first floor of the building for a ten percent discount. :)
Christmas Gardening Experience
We were given two plants: a tiny boulevard and a pot with poinsettias. To be honest, I didn't even know poinsettias were an actual thing. I just thought they were invented for Christmas decorations...
Before we began assembling our tiny gardens, we were given a short lesson on the significance of these plants for the holiday and how to take care of them properly. The lecturer was so kind and explained every step of the process in detail. Classes are conducted in English, but Korean translators are always around if needed.
